For many years, the BCPS had an annual Library Day, which all members were welcome to attend. This tradition fell into abeyance some years ago, but is now being revived.
The next Library Day will take place on Saturday 6 September, 2014 at the home of the Society's Hon. Librarian, Steve Giddins, in Rochester, Kent (full address on the back of The Problemist). Members will have the opportunity to consult the Society's extensive library of chess composition books, to borrow individual items for later return, and to meet other members, to discuss problem and study issues. It is likely that at least one mini-lecture will be given, on a topic of interest. Full refreshments will be provided.
Members are welcome to arrive at any time during the day, although the main events will start around midday. The nearest railway station is Rochester, which is served by half-hourly services from Victoria, Charing Cross and St Pancras. By road, you should take the M2 or M20 motorway and leave at the Rochester/Chatham junction. The postcode for satnav users is ME1 1LW.
If you plan to attend and have not already notified Steve, please do so a few days in advance, so that he can judge the numbers for catering. To do so, or for any other information, Steve can be reached via the 'Contact' item in the 'Main Menu' on the left - select his name from the list that appears.
