P. A. Orlimont
A very pretty lightweight that may prove not easy to solve, despite
the fact that Black has only one move in the diagram.
White sets up a mating net by way of two opening moves which take
the minor pieces further away from the king. 1.Sa2 e2 2.Be7
Kf4 3.Sc3 Kg3 4.Sxe2. Any other move is met by
4.Qe4.
Peter Niehoff: The knight cannot reach the crucial square c3 from the more
natural square d5 (1.Sd5? e2 2.Be7 stalemate), but only with the help of
an amazing move to the board edge. Another attack is also defeated -
1.Sa6? e2 2.Be7 Kf4 3.Sc5 Kg3!
